Bloom
Caged flowers
barricaded blossoms
imprisoned petals
blooming doom
to end life
you first have to live

About The Author
Selkies And Merrows
Island of Éire
pillars a mystical connection
between the people
and the sea
The Irish Sea
a storyteller
a holm
of folklore
and tall tales
a provider
and a source of wonder
In the dawning of summer
the sun's first rays kisses
the sea
painting the sea
with hues of gold
and amber
leaving a lasting lust
for adventure
The sea
in return
shares it’s stories
with the fishermen
who set sail
at the break of day
Fishermen cast their nets
and lines into the deep
guided not only by
the stars
but also by
the whispers
of the sea
They know
the many moods
of the Irish Sea
gentle as a lullaby
on calm days
wild and tempestuous
on others
The sea tutors them
to respect
its power
to read
the currents
and the winds
like a seasoned sailor
On the shore
families await the return
of their loved ones
as the sea acts
as a provider
and a taker
It gifts them with
an abundance
of sustenance
nourishing their bodies
and their souls
But it also carries
shadows of sorrow
when tempests rage
Luring the lost
forever
As day turns to night
the Irish Sea’s waves
retreat
revealing hidden treasures
in the form of
ancient artefacts
and cloaking
unfound kin
These offerings from
the deep
connect the present
with the past
reminding the islanders
of our rich history
The Irish Sea
a timeless storyteller
bares witness to tales
of pirates
sailors
and mythical creatures
like selkies and merrows
It is a bridge
to other lands
connecting Ireland
with friends
and foes
Through the changing tides
and seasons
the Irish Sea remains
a constant companion
to the Irish people
A source of livelihood
inspiration
and connection
to their Celtic heritage
Its lore
like the sea itself
ebbed and flowed
ever entwined with the soul of
the Emerald Isle
